Real-life advice from a real-life recruiter

Julia 2Julia didn’t plan on being a General Manager. No, not at all. The Federal Bureau of Investigations is where she originally set her goals to be. Yep, that’s the F.B.I. She wanted to be an F.B.I. field agent. After graduating from Seton Hill with a Criminal Science and Business Degree, she enrolled in the police academy.  In order to be accepted into the F.B.I. as a field agent, you need 5 years of management experience. Julia started her love affair with Eat’n Park when she set out to get that management experience. And well, by now, she has that five years experience…

Julia was no stranger to the restaurant business. Restaurants have always been a part of her life. Her parents owned a restaurant and she also worked in a restaurant while attending school. Some of her friends from school had started their careers at Eat’n Park and had a lot of great things to say about the company. So Julia applied to the Eat’n Park management training program and she got the job.

She completed her management training at the Eat’n Park in New Kensington. After her training, she was transferred to a location in Homestead which is now closed. She was moved around so such as an assistant manager she doesn’t remember all the restaurants she worked in.  Her police training helped her handle some interesting situations in her role as a restaurant manager. It didn’t take Julia long to be promoted to General Manager and then to Training General Manager. Julia loves training new assistant managers. She loves watching her management trainees’ progress through their careers; Many of her former students are currently General Managers and she takes great pride in their success.

Julia’s best advice is to treat people with respect. This means all people, including guests, team members, fellow managers and upper management – not just the ones you like.  Always have an open mind and learn as much as you can from EVERYONE.

Julia loves the fact that Eat’n Park still has its small company values while being a larger company with lots of opportunities. The company partners with folks in times of need.

She loves Grilled Salmon Caesar Salads. It is a non-menu item but, hey, when you’re a General Manager you can make whatever you want for yourself.

I always love visiting with Julia and catching up with her very active family life. Having kids and being a General Manager make for a very busy Julia. Thank you, Julia, for being a fantastic field agent for Eat’n Park!
